Haulin’ Pumpkins

Florida weather has finally reached temperatures cool enough for Alastair to wear his pumpkin pullin’ shirt.  This was made early in October, with hopes that it would be worn for the annual family outing to the pumpkin patch.  But our hot blooded 2 year-old wouldn’t be comfortable in long sleeves when it is 90 degrees in the shade. Especially when he had a heavy gourd to haul.

Choosing just one was hard.  So many pumpkins!

And such a small wagon!

But finally he found the perfect pumpkin and towed it away in a classic Radio Flyer.

The design is from Planet Applique,  one of my favorite sites.  About the time I was working on this shirt, I noticed that Sophie posted a little tee embroidered with the same design.  She  too is a big fan of Planet Applique.

This design has special appeal because it can be worn through Thanksgiving weekend.  Shirts with bats and mummies and ghosts have a much shorter wearing season.

Now,  his pumpkin has been carved into a jack-o-lantern and sits proudly on his front porch.  But he has his pumpkin pulling shirt as a reminder of his adventure in the pumpkin patch. In this photo, it’s impossible to tell if Alastair is remembering that fun or planning tricks for the Halloween night.
